Indiana Hires Dana Grindall As Assistant Coach

Indiana on Friday hired Dana Grindall as an assistant coach and director of on-campus recruiting.

Grindall joins the staff of head coach Ray Looze after three seasons as an assistant coach at Yale.

“We are excited to welcome Dana to Indiana swimming,” Looze said in a team statement. “Her recent experience at both Colgate and Yale has prepared her at an elite level to help lead our program. She is an exceptional communicator and outstanding coach on both a technical and training basis. Her recruiting ability is particularly key in this new climate. Dana fits perfectly with our athlete-centric coaching philosophy. We look forward to what we can accomplish with her in Bloomington!”

Big Ten Swimming News

Grindall helped Yale produce six all-Americans and 17 NCAA qualifiers in her time in New Haven. Yale’s staff was named Ivy League Men’s Coaching Staff of the Year last season.

Grindall has experience in the club realm as a head junior coach at Chelsea Piers Aquatic Club and at Western High School in Nevada, while receiving a master’s degree in education at UNLV. She also spent a stint as an assistant coach at Colgate.

A Connecticut native, Grindall knows the Big Ten from her stint as a swimmer at Wisconsin. With the Badgers, she won a Big Ten individual title, setting the program record in the 200 butterfly in 2016, and serving as a team captain as a senior. She qualified for two Olympic Trials and was an All-American in 2015. She earned her bachelor’s degree in human development and family studies.
