Georgia Tech Hires Miles Simon as Assistant Coach

Georgia Tech on Friday announced the hiring of Miles Simon as an assistant coach.

Simon swam for four years at Howard University before a grad transfer year at the University of Georgia. The Atlanta native was a team captain for the Bison, the 2023 Most Outstanding Swimmer of the Northeast Conference Championship. He won four events and broke seven conference records there.

“We’re excited to welcome Miles Simon to the Georgia Tech Swimming and Diving staff as an assistant coach,” Georgia Tech head coach John Ames said in a press release. “Miles brings a unique combination of elite-level swimming experience and academic excellence. His passion, knowledge, and drive will make an immediate impact on our student-athletes and our program as a whole.”

Simon was a second-team CSCAA All-American last year at Georgia. He made two SEC Championship finals and swam at Olympic Trials in 2024.

Simon received his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Howard and a master’s degree in kinesiology from Georgia. He worked as an Olympic sports strength and conditioning intern with the Bulldogs, working with the track and field teams, including the SEC Championship women’s team.
