The rosters for the second season of the International Swimming League (ISL) were released on Wednesday, as Energy Standard has reloaded its roster to push for a second straight league title after taking the first ISL title in 2019.

The four European returning teams – Energy Standard, London Roar, Team Iron and the Aqua Centurions – have released their roster which can be seen below. The Toronto Titans and Tokyo Frog Kings will also be making their debuts in the league this season.

The majority of Energy Standard’s key players are back for the 2020 season, including reigning MVP Sarah Sjostrom and Olympic champs Florent Manaudou and Chad Le Clos.

They have been boosted by reigning 50 free Olympic champ Pernille Blume, who has made the move from the New York Breakers and is now training in Turkey with James Gibson and company. Energy Standard also brings in Danas Rapsys, who was originally going to swim for the team in 2019 but elected to focus on long course and swim in the FINA World Cup. Rapsys will be making his ISL debut this coming season as a key piece in the 200 & 400 freestyle events as he can also branch out to the 100 and 200 backstroke.

Matt Grevers is also a huge addition to Energy Standard as he comes over from the LA Current and will provide depth in sprint backstroke and freestyle.

The team lost world record holder Daiya Seto to the expansion Tokyo Frog Kings and Kayla Sanchez to the Toronto Titans, but return a team capable of repeating as champions in 2020.

The London Roar reached the Las Vegas final last season and finished second behind Energy Standard. It returns a lot of key players in season two, including team captain Adam Peaty and big point scorers Cate Campbell and Emma McKeon. The club is composed primarily of the best British and Australian swimmers, including some of the best swimmers based in the two countries, such as Andreas Vazaios and Anna Hopkin.

The Roar lost key pieces in Canadians Yuri Kisil and Finlay Knox to the Toronto Titans as well as Mireia Belmonte, who has jumped ship to Team Iron.

New faces include Marius Kusch, who had the number one ranked time in the world in the 100 butterfly last year, and world-class breaststroker Annie Lazor plus sprinters Kira Toussaint and Alia Atkinson.

Team Iron lost a lot of key members to a team that just missed making the Las Vegas final last season, but will be returning superstars Katinka Hosszu and Kristof Milak as well as Ranomi Kromowidjojo. Iron will be the unofficial “host” team in Budapest, welcoming new members like Spain’s Mireia Belmonte from the London Roar and Worlds silver medalist Tatjana Schoenmaker of South Africa, who will make her ISL debut.

Iron lost Vladimir Morozov, who was a big boost in the sprint events, and Kira Toussaint, now with the London Roar. Dutch rising star breaststroker Arno Kamminga will also not be swimming with Team Iron this year.
