Eneli Jefimova Twice Lowers Estonian 50 Breast Record As She Breaks 30-Second Barrier

Eneli Jefimova lowered her Estonian 50m breaststroke record twice in a day as she continued to rewrite the national record books at the Speedo Helskinki Open.

Coming into the meet, the 18-year-old had a best of 30.08 from the 2022 World Championships in Budapest. She consigned that to history in the prelims in the Finnish capital where she made her first journey inside 30secs in 29.89.

Jefimova, the European 100 champion, returned in the evening to slice a further 0.06 from that time as she posted 29.83 to stand top of the world rankings.

It was her second Estonian record in as many days after she went 1:05.86 in the 100m breaststroke.
