CSCAA Division III Polls: NYU Women Rise to No. 1 ahead of NCAAs
There’s change near the top of both of the final CSCAA Division III polls, released this week, with NYU ascending to the top of the women’s poll and a top-three shakeup on the men’s side.
NYU had been third in the February poll. But with 342 points in the March balloting, the Violets hopped past former No. 1 Kenyon’s 334. Emory slid a spot to third.
Denison and MIT hold onto fourth and fifth, respectively. They’re followed by Williams and Tufts, each of which are up two spots. Pomona-Pitzer is down two spots to eighth, as is the University of Chicago in seventh. Hope rounds out the top 10, leaping past Washington University St. Louis for the honor.
Denison keeps its hold on the men’s side with 418 points, just five more than NYU, which is up from third to second. Emory slides to third. The next four remain in order from the last poll – Chicago, Kenyon, MIT, Carnegie Mellon.
The massive leap is by Williams, bounding from 21st to eighth. TCNJ is ninth, while Tufts is up three spots to 10th.
The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America committee, consisting of Division III coaches, assesses and ranks the nation’s top 25 dual meet teams. Their evaluation takes into account head-to-head dual meet outcomes, performances since the last rankings, season-long results, dual meet records, roster changes (such as injuries), and data from the SwimCloud Simulator. It is important to note that the poll’s objective is not to predict the top finishers in a championship meet format.
