College Swimming League Wraps Up Regular Season This Weekend; Playoff Positions On the Line
The final regular-season meet of the inaugural College Swimming League season will be held on Friday night when Tennessee, Auburn, Alabama and Georgia – all Southeastern Conference programs – get together at Gabrielsen Natatorium in Athens, Georgia. The matchup will determine which programs advance to the CSL championship, who heads to the wildcard meet and which schools are knocked out of contention.
Heading into the regular-season finale, Virginia and North Carolina State have secured invitations to the championship, which will be held on November 6 at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis. Indiana and Cal have locked up wildcard berths. Tennessee is well-positioned to advance to the final, thanks to the firepower brought by Camille Spink and Charlotte Crush, along with Ulises Saravia and Julian Koch.
What unfolds in Athens will be of interest to Stanford and Louisville, which are on the wildcard bubble at the moment. The finishing order between Alabama, Auburn and Georgia will determine who gets the final wildcard bids. The winner of the wildcard match, which is slated for November 5 in Indianapolis, will earn the final spot in the championship.
In this weekend’s match, keep an eye on Georgia’s Tomas Koski, who clocked a 4:12.85 in the 500-yard freestyle earlier this season. Meanwhile, Alabama will turn to Cadence Vincent, who went 21.63 in the 50 freestyle during the Crimson Tide’s opening CSL match. For Auburn, Gabriel Machuco was the winner of the 100 IM and 200 IM when the Tigers raced in Match Three.
Match Six will begin at 5:30 p.m. and can be viewed on ESPN+.
