Cal Adds Brody Lewis, Keanan Dols to Coaching Staff
The University of California on Friday named Brody Lewis and Keanan Dols as assistant coaches.
Lewis spent four seasons as an assistant coach at Utah. He mentored one NCAA All-American and three Pac-12 podium finishers with the Utes. Lewis was previously at the University of Northern Colorado.
“I am excited to welcome Brody to our staff,” Cal head coach and director of swimming and diving Dave Durden said in a news release. “He brings an excellent educational background and valuable on-deck experience that will allow him to make an immediate impact on our program. Throughout the interview process, it became clear through his conversations with our athletes and staff that he would be a great fit at Cal. We are excited to welcome Brody and his family to the Bay Area.”
Lewis swam at Utah, qualifying for Pac-12 Championships all four years as a breaststroker. He put up NCAA B cuts in 2017, 2018 and 2020 and qualified for U.S. Olympic Trials in 2021 in both breaststroke events.
“I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to join the Cal swimming and diving program,” Lewis said. “They have a rich history of excellence in and out of the pool that is truly unmatched. I can’t wait to start working with this world class coaching staff, and I look forward to developing each student-athlete to be the best individual they can be. Go Bears!”
Lewis holds a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology teaching with a minor in nutrition from Utah and a master’s degree in sports coaching at Northern Colorado.
Dols was an Olympian from Jamaica who swam at Penn. He spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Villanova, helping the women’s team extend its streak of Big East team titles to 13 in a row. Dols was a volunteer coach at Kentucky, where he took a fifth year and qualified for the SEC Championships.

Dols is a native of Sarasota, Fla, who swam at the Olympics in Tokyo. He spent nearly a decade on the Jamaican national team, holding eight senior national records. Dolls holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering & applied mechanics from Penn and a master’s degree in supply chain management from Kentucky.
