British Three-Time Olympic Diver Grace Reid Retires

Grace Reid, a diver who represented Great Britain at three Olympic Games, announced her retirement from the sport this week.

Reid dove internationally for more than a decade, winning three medals at the World Championships and two European titles for Britain. She also won two Commonwealth Games gold medals representing Scotland, the meet at which she made her international debut at the age of 14 in 2010.

Reid made the announcement on social media.

Reid wrote in part:

“When I first stepped onto a diving board at age 5, I never imagined the medals I’d win, the history I’d make, or the boundaries I’d push. It’s been a long, tough road but I wouldn’t change any of it. The success only means what it does because of what it took to get here.

“To my family, friends, coaches, teammates, and everyone behind the scenes, thank you. This was never a solo journey, and I wouldn’t be the person I am today without you.”

The 29-year-old from Edinburgh made her first Olympics in Rio in 2016. She finished 10th in the women’s 3-meter springboard in Paris in 2024. At the Tokyo Olympics, Reid finished 19th on springboard and paired with Katherine Torrance to finish sixth in springboard synchro. She was eighth on 3-meter springboard in Rio.

Reid won three career World Championships medals, the most recent a silver on 1-meter springboard in 2024. She also won 3-meter mixed synchro silver with Tom Daley in 2017 and 3-meter mixed synchro bronze in 2022 with James Heatly. She finished 14th on 3-meter at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships in Singapore.

Reid was twice a European Champion, winning 3-meter springboard in 2018 and 3-meter mixed synchro gold in 2016. It’s among six total European Championships medals, plus two medals at the European Diving Championships.

For Scotland, Reid won gold in 1-meter springboard at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and gold in 3-meter mixed synchro in 2022 alongside Heatly.
