Boulder City Sweeps Nevada 3A Swimming and Diving Championships

Boulder City High School dominated both the boys and girls Nevada 3A Swimming and Diving State Championships. On the girls side, the team scored 214.50 points while Truckee High School totaled 75 points for the runner up spot. The boys scored 132 points to Truckee’s 99 points.

Girls

Boulder City’s Montana LloydAimee GarciaRose Pouch, and Mandy Gebhart (1:48.91) was the only 200 medley relay team under two minutes.

Gebhart and Pouch took the top two spots in the 200 freestyle with times of 1:49.73 and 1:56.60. They set a precedent as the team then swept the 200 IM podium with Lloyd (2:08.07), Abby Sauerbrei (2:09.25) and Garcia (2:10.61). Lloyd led a sweep of the 100 backstroke with her 57.37. Teammates Sarah Estes (1:00.37) and Wuinci Thomas (1:04.61) were second and third.

Boulder City then swept the 500 freestyle, led by Gebhart (4:54.54) in dominant fashion. Annika Freiburger (5:25.48) and Alexis Stebbens (5:49.55) were second and third.

Lloyd, Sauerbrei, Pouch, and Gebhart combined for a 1:40.17 in the 200 freestyle relay. Boulder City completed their relay sweeps as Garcia, Estes, Thomas, and Sauerbrei won the 400 freestyle relay by 28 seconds in 3:45.92.

Incline High’s Kate Rye (24.40) was dominant in the 50 free. She also won the 100 freestyle by over a second in 52.84. Sauerbrei (54.19) took second and her Boulder City teammate Thomas (56.98) placed third.

SE Career Tech’s Elle Renner took home the one meter diving gold with 432.85 points.

Trukee’s Megan Burrill won the 100 butterfly in 59.19, just faster than Boulder’s Pouch (59.64). In 1:04.38 Sage Ridge’s Maddie Lewis won the 100 breaststroke.

Boys

Boulder City’s Chandler LarsonAJ PouchPaco Cuevas, and Robert Leavitt (1:46.56) won the 200 medley relay by ten seconds. Their teammate Braden Klouse won the 200 freestyle in 1:48.95. Pouch (1:57.44) won the 200 IM by 12 seconds. Klouse also topped the 100 freestyle in 49.18.

Pouch also won the 100 breaststroke in 58.65 Cuevas was 500 freestyle champion in 5:04.07.

Boulder City’s Pouch, Andre PappasClayton Pendleton, and Klouse raced to a 1:32.39 in the 200 freestyle relay, just faster than Truckee’s Gavin OlsenLogan Kasten, Dylan Cole, and Cooper DeRyk in 1:32.95.

Truckee’s DeRyk won the 50 freestyle by over three seconds with his 20.16. He also dominated the 100 butterfly in 49.87.

Virgin Valley’s David Vogel edged Cheyenne’s Aaron Reed for the one meter diving title as the two score 260.85 and 260.65 points, respectively. The 100 backstroke went to Stuart Hayes of Sage Ride (59.73).

Truckee captured the 400 freestyle relay in 3:22.19 with the team of DeRyk, Evan Opsal, Cole, and Olsen.
