Big Ten Women’s Championships Day 4 Prelims: Liberty Clark Matches Meet Record in 100 Free

The 2026 Big Ten Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships continued with the Day 4 prelims session on Saturday, Feb. 21, from Minneapolis.

The events on the docket are the 200 IM, 100 freestyle, 200 butterfly and 200 backstroke.

Here is a look at what happened Saturday morning:

Big Ten Women’s 200 IM

UCLA senior Rosie Murphy swam to the top seed in the 200 IM. She got to the wall in 1:54.25, just ahead of Michigan junior Bella Sims (1:54.74).

They were the only two in the field to break 1:56.

USC junior Ashley McMillan took the third spot in 1:56.03, ahead of senior teammate Justina Kozan (1:56.16).

Indiana junior Mackenzie Hodges took the fifth seed in 1:57.03, ahead of Michigan senior Letitia Sim (1:57.17), teammate Devon Kitchel (1:57.25) and Indiana junior Reese Tiltmann (1:57.41).

Big Ten Women’s 100 Freestyle

Indiana freshman Liberty Clark sprinted to the 100 free first seed in 46.57, tying the meet record set by Michigan’s Maggie Mac Neil, set in 2020.

Ohio State sophomore Rachel Bockrath took the second seed in 47.68, ahead of Michigan duo Brady Kendall (47.95) and Stephanie Balduccini (48.04).

Another Indiana freshman, Grace Hoeper, took the fifth seed in 48.11, followed by USC’s Nicole Maier (48.13), Indiana senior Kristina Paegle (48.22) and Northwestern senior Lindsay Ervin (48.31).

Big Ten Women’s 200 Butterfly

Another big swim from an Indiana freshman. Alex Shackell took the top seed in the 200 fly. The Olympian in this event, got to the wall in 1:52.48.

Michigan junior Hannah Bellard was just behind in 1:52.73, well ahead of the field.

Wisconsin freshman Lucie Delmas took the third seed in 1:55.52, followed by Michigan freshman Montse Spielman (1:56.68).

Fifth place went to Minnesota sophomore Rachel Conley (1:57.06), followed by Indiana senior Katie Forrester (1:57.24), Purdue junior Keira Kask and USC freshman Sage Miller (1:57.29).

Big Ten Women’s 200 Backstroke

Wisconsin senior Maggie Wanezek continued her strong week with a top seed in the 200 back. After winning on the 100 back, she got to the wall in 1:48.94, nearly three seconds ahead of the field.

UCLA senior Rosie Murphy took the second seed in 1:51.79, just ahead of Indiana junior Miranda Grana (1:52.16).

USC freshman Dora Molnar took the fourth seed in 1:52.73, followed by Indiana’s Mackenzie Hodges (1:52.76) and Mya DeWitt (1:53.34), Michigan freshman Milla Drakopoulos (1:53.36) and USC junior Lindsay Barnes (1:53.63).
