The 2025 Big Ten Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships continued on Thursday from McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion on the campus of Ohio State University.
The Day 2 prelims consisted of the 500 free, 200 IM and 50 free before moving to 1-meter diving prelims leading into the finals.
Here is a look at what happened on Thursday morning:
Big Ten Women’s 500 Freestyle
Indiana senior Anna Peplowski picked up right where she left off on Day 1 and grabbed the top seed in the 500 free.
Peplowski got to the wall in 4:37.24 with consistent splits of 28 after starting with a stunning 24.13, then 26.77.
The Paris Olympian broke the Big Ten meet record in the 200 freestyle leading off the 800 free relay on Wednesday night.
USC junior Claire Tuggle dropped three seconds from her entry time to take the second seed in finals with a 4:37.66.
Michigan’s distance duo was next with Hannah Bellard (4:38.15) and Rebecca Diaconescu (4:38.22).
Indiana senior Ching Gan took the fifth seed (4:38.58), followed by Ohio State freshman Mila Nikarnonov (4:40.23), Minnesota senior Eliot Kennedy (4:41.14) and Nebraska junior Gene Jorgenson (4:41.27).

Big Ten Women’s 200 IM
Wisconsin fifth-year Phoebe Bacon and Ohio State freshman Sienna Angove tied for the top seed in the 200 IM. Both swimmer touched the wall in 1:54.81 to tie for the top spot heading into tonight’s final.
Outside of Bacon, the 200 IM finals will be full of the Michigan-Ohio State rivalry.
Ohio State senior Paige Hall took the third seed in 1:55.93. Teammate Krista Marlin was sixth (1:56.60) and Paige Delma was seventh (1:56.70).
Meanwhile, Michigan’s Letitia Sim took the fourth seed in 1:56.25. Teammate Stephanie Balduccini was one spot behind in 1:56.39 and junior Devon Kitchel grabbed the eighth seed with a swim of 1:56.85.

Big Ten Women’s 50 Freestyle
Indiana junior Kristin Paegle raced to the top seed in the 50 free with a time or 21.63.
She was two tenths ahead of Michigan junior Brady Kendall (21.83). Michigan senior teammate Lindsay Flynn took the third seed in 21.99, all NCAA B cuts.
Ohio State senior Nyah Funderburke was fourth at 22.03, while there was a tie for the fifth seed with Minnesota freshman Olivia Wanner and Wisconsin sophomore Hailey Tierney both finishing in 22.09.
USC fifth-year Caroline Famous grabbed the seventh seed in 22.11 and Ohio State freshman Rachel Bockrath was eighth (22.14).
