Andrea Filadelli and Klaudia Tarasiewicz won their respective men’s and women’s races at the first leg of the European Aquatics Open Water Swimming Cup in Protaras, Cyprus.

It continued a fine start to the open water season for Filadelli as he followed up his victory at the opening leg of the World Aquatics Open Water Swimming World Cup 2025 in Ibiza last week.
After six laps of the course at Fig Tree Bay, it was Tarasiewicz who claimed the women’s title after coming through from seventh with 1650m to go. The Polish swimmer ultimately enjoyed a clear win by more than six seconds in 1:52:29.13, with Giulia Berton getting her hand to the panel 0.20secs ahead of Italian teammate Iris Manchini in 1:52:35.38 to 1:52:35.58. Lisa Pou – 18th at Paris 2024 – was next home in 1:52:38.09 followed by Ella Dyson of Great Britain (1:52:40.15) and Alessia Ossoli (1:52:52.84).
The second leg will take place in Setubal, Portugal, on 22 June followed by Paris, Barcelona and concluding in Razanac in late September.
