Allison Schumacher Wins Three Events To Wrap Up Jean Freeman Invite

The second and final day of the Jean Freeman Invitational picked up just where it left off. The Minnesota Gophers, the meet host, won the first 14 events of the day.

The day started with the long distance events. In the women’s 1650-yard freestyle Sam Harding won for the Gophers, posting a time of 16:41.41. Minnesota’s Michael Messner won for the men with a time of 15:57.40.

Minnesota won the women’s 200-yard medley relay in 1:42.50. The team consisted of backstroker Zoe Avestruz, breaststroker Rae Bullinger, butterflier Allison Schumacher and freestyler Abigail Raatz. The Gophers’ men’s team won in 1:32.16. The team was made up of backstroker Noah Busch, breaststroker Erick Sande, butterflier Ben Bravence and James Tidd.

In the women’s 400-yard individual medley, Minnesota’s Brooke Zeiger won in 4:18.54, a NCAA ‘B’ time standard. Brian Poon won the men’s event for the Gophers with a time of 3:55.88.

Schumacher picked up her second win of the day in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 50.47. Minnesota’s Bowen Becker picked up the win in the men’s event with a time of 45.36.

Dani Bergeson won the women’s 100-yard backstroke for the Gophers. She posted a time of 55.89. Busch won the men’s race in 51.43.

In the women’s 200-yard breaststroke Kaela Marcus won in a time of 2:17.74 for the Gophers. Minnesota’s Conner McHugh won the men’s event in 1:59.03, a NCAA ‘B’ time standard.

Schumacher won her third event of the day in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 55.01. Daryl Turner won the men’s event for the Gophers in 47.87, a NCAA ‘B’ time standard.

South Dakota State swept the men’s and women’s 400-yard freestyle relay.

The South Dakota State women posted a time of 3:32.49. They were led by a 53.01 leadoff leg from Hadlie Overhue. On the men’s side, South Dakota State posted a 3:05.65. They were led by a 45.07 leadoff leg from Ben Bolinske.
