Adam Peaty Completes Debut Triathlon: “One Of The Hardest Things I’ve Ever Done”

Adam Peaty described his triathlon debut as “one of the hardest things I’ve ever done” after racing over the Olympic distance at the London T100 Triathlon.

The triple Olympic champion was among more than 5,000 participants at the event where he posted the fifth-fastest 1.5km swim of 19mins 44secs at the Royal Victoria Dock. That was followed by a 40km bike ride and 10km run as he completed the triathlon in 2hrs 34mins 36secs.

The eight-time world gold medallist was part of Team Ramsay who raised funds for Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital although chef and future father-in-law Gordon Ramsay was unable to participate.

Peaty told PTO+: “That was tough. That was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done – but 100% would do it again!

“Yes, I’ve done training. Yes, I’ve done races under a minute. But I’ve never had to battle for two and a half hours. And find different strategies. I may have used 70% of my adrenaline in that first 500m of the swim.”

The 30-year-old said recently that he is hoping to take on a programme of four events at LA 2028 – the 50 and 100m breaststroke and two relays.
