This week’s ZUMO Performance of the Week goes to Adam Peaty and Federica Pellegrini and many others for leading their own fundraising efforts in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic ongoing throughout the world. Peaty came forward on social media and was hosting a raffle to auction off his racing suit that he swam in at the 2016 Olympic Games. Peaty hosted an Instagram live session where he was riding 100km to raise money for the charities that support the NHS.

Adam Peaty has raised more than £13,000 ($16,200) for the National Health Service after raffling off the suit he wore en-route to Olympic gold in Rio de Janeiro four years ago.

The eight-time world champion had already raised more than £4,000 ($5,000) with a charity static bike ride and will donate all the money to the NHS to buy personal protective equipment and other essential items as Britain battles against the coronavirus (COVID-19).

Pellegrini also announced on social media that she was going to be auctioning off the goggles she wore when she won the 200 freestyle at the 2008 Olympic Games.

The Italian has contributed 59 items including sports memorabilia, designer clothes and signed pictures for an online auction on Tuesday 14 April with all the money raised going to the Pope John XXIII Hospital in Bergamo, the epicentre of the outbreak in Italy.

“I organized an online auction of 59 memorabilia – including the Olympic gold goggles in Beijing 2008 – the proceeds of which will be entirely donated to the Bergamo hospital ASST Papa Giovanni XXIII.

Pellegrini posted her intentions on social media, saying:

This auction will take place on Tuesday 14 April, from 15.30 to 17.30.
You can find the direct link in my BIO from which the page with the registration / pre-registration form will open.

“As indicated in the form, the user will receive, about 24 hours before the auction start time, the link and credentials to access an innovative event, live streaming.
In compliance with current regulations, I will be in connection from my home, as well as the auction hitter: Frank Matano. See all of you TOMORROW”

Thank you Federica Pellegrini and Adam Peaty and many others for your money-making efforts and helping fight the coronavirus with your generous donations.
