Wiffen Brothers Film Entertaining Recruiting Visit to Cal-Berkeley; Could Olympic Champ Daniel Join Nathan as a Golden Bear

Last fall, Irish distance standout Nathan Wiffen revealed that he will attend Cal-Berkeley and pursue a college career in the NCAA ranks. Could his twin brother, Olympic champion Daniel Wiffen be joining him?

The possibility seems real.

In the most recent episode of the brothers’ podcast, “The Wiffen Twins,” video cameras followed Nathan and Daniel on a visit to Berkeley, where they took in the Golden Bears’ dual meet against the University of Southern California. The title of the episode is playful, called: “Are We Moving?”

During their trip to Northern California, which will be followed by Altotude training in Flagstaff, Arizona, the Wiffen brothers also took a tour of the campus, played a little golf and helped friend Lucas Henveaux move into his new home. Henveaux recently returned to the Cal roster and provides an immediate distance boost for the Bears.

Throughout the video, the brothers uttered the phrase “Go Bears,” and with a visit to the campus now under his belt, it seems Daniel Wiffen could very well join his brother on the program’s high-powered roster next year. Last summer, Daniel Wiffen claimed gold in the 800-meter freestyle at the Olympic Games in Paris and added a bronze medal in the 1500 freestyle. Meanwhile, Nathan Wiffen boasts an impressice resume of his own, one that includes the identity of European Championships finalist in the 800 freestyle and 1500 freestyle.
