Video Interview: Matt McLean On Deck at the ACC Championships

GREENSBORO, North Carolina, March 2. OLYMPIAN Matt McLean drove down from Charlottesville to Greensboro for the final day of action at the men's ACC Championships. Before the last night of finals kicked off, McLean sat down with Swimming World correspondent David Rieder. McLean discussed returning to the University of Virginia to train and also coach, his Olympic experience, and what he has been up to since competing in London this summer.

After two years training with an elite group of Olympic hopefuls in Fullerton, California, McLean returned to UVA after the Olympics. “I really don't think there's any other place for me. It's the only place that came to mind.” McLean then recounted his experience at Olympic Trials this summer, where he finished ninth in the 400 free before returning to make the team in the 200. “It (the 400) was pretty disappointing at the time, but even the 200 was a solid swim, but there are definitely things I can do better, so I'm just trying to keep that in mind and move forward.”

Check out what else McLean had to say in the video, and be sure to check out the meet landing page all weekend for recaps and other video interviews from Greensboro.
