Josh Prenot missed out on this summer’s World Championships team, finishing third at U.S. Nationals in both the 200 breast and 200 IM. In his first meet since, he won two events (200 breast and 200 IM) at the USA College Challenge, and afterwards, he spoke about moving on towards a new season.

Prenot discussed how he worked to move past the disappointment of the summer and how he built up some perspective on the setback. He revealed that he took advice from fellow Olympians Nathan AdrianTom Shields and Natalie Coughlin and also leaned on coaches Dave Durden and Yuri Suguiyama.

Prenot explained his search for new motivation after years of pushing to make an Olympic team, which he accomplished in 2012. He also discussed his return to short course yards racing for the first time since finishing his collegiate career in March 2016 and what the times he swam in Los Angeles mean moving forward.
