Ryan Lochte, Caeleb Dressel, Penny Oleksiak Win Again at Mel Zajac International

The speed picked up on the second night of the Mel Zajac Jr. International meet in Vancouver. on Saturday.

Caeleb Dressel, Ryan Lochte and Penny Oleksiak were again at the forefront of the fast racing.

Lochte won the 200 IM in 1:58.90, a strong swim that puts him as the second-fastest American this year (behind Chase Kalisz). He finished ahead of Mark Szaranek (2:03.29) and Jacob Foster (2:03.66).

Dressel led off the men’s session by winning the 100 fly in 52.45. He finished ahead of a strong field that included Gianluca Urlando (53.21), Maxime Rooney (53.69) and Lochte (53.71).

Dressel also won the 50 free in 22.15, finishing ahead of Yuri Kisil (22.52) and Sid Farber (22.61).

Oleksiak started the session with a quick time in the 100-meter butterfly, winning in 59.12. Heidi Bradley was second (1:01.07) and Phoebe Bacon was third (1:01.63).

Mackenzie Padington continued her strong meet by winning the 400 free in 4:10.63. Molly Gowans was second (4:16.46), followed by Savanna Faulconer (4:17.02). Padington also won the 200 IM in 2:15.25, ahead of Kelsey Wog (2:15.50) and Kelly Fertel (2:16.58).

Mitch D’Arrigo won the men’s 400 (3:51.93), followed by Ben Lawless (3:54.99) and Michael Calvillo (3:55.54).

Isabelle Stadden won the 50 back in 28.17, ahead of Katharine Berkoff (28.38) and Emma Ball (28.47). In the men’s 50 back, Markus Thormeyer won in 25.81, ahead of Wyatt Davis (26.28) and Cameron Auchinachie (26.44).

Gretchen Walsh won the 50 free in 25.50, holding off Sarah Fournier (25.80), Grace Cooper (26.11) and Sherridon Dressel (26.17).

Rachel Nicol won the 200 breast in 2:28.98, ahead of Bailey Herbert (2:29.95) and Wog (2:30.62). Foster won the men’s event in 2:16.55, followed by Jaren LeFranc (2:17.89) and Ben Blackmon (2:20.71).

Berkoff, Ema Rajic, Zoie Hartman and Walsh won the 800 free relay in 8.18.97.

Urlando, Ross Dant, Calvillo and Foster won the men’s 800 free relay in 7:36.14.
