Nova Southeastern Off To Strong Start On SSC Day 3

Day three of the Sunshine State Conference prelims began this morning in Orlando, Florida. The men’s and women’s 500 free, 100 back, 100 breast and 200 butterfly were swam.

In the women’s 500 freestyle, Alli Crenshaw of Florida Southern, came in with the fastest time of the morning with a 4:57.53. Nova Southeastren’s Georgina Allin went a 5:00.34 for a second place seed going not finals tonight and right behind her was Tampa’s Makayla Ayers with a 5:00.91 for third this morning.

Blake Woodrow of Nova Southeastern went a 4:30.29 to be seeded first going into finals tonight. Tampa’s Tommy Reminger came in second (4:31.53) with St. Leo’s Daniel Bis on his toes with a 4:31.87.

Nova Southeastern’s Emma Wahlstrom touched the wall first this morning in the women’s 100 back with a 56.28. Lauren Reynolds from Florida Southern came in with a 56.61 and close behind was Natalia Garriock of St. Leo who went a 56.88.

In the men’s 100 back, Florida Southern came in with the two fastest times of the morning. The current SSC record holder, Marco Palacios came in first this morning with a 47.71, a little over a half a second behind his current record of 47.07. His teammate Diego Gimenez went a 48.11 for second this morning and Nova Southeastern’s Marco Aldabe finishing third (48.64).

Winner of both the 200 and 400 IM, Rebecca Matthews of Lynn, finished first this morning in the women’s 100 breast with a 1:02.86. Matthews is the current SSC record holder in this event with a 1:00.88. Malin Westman of Nova touched second with a 1:03.02 and Florida Southern’s Kelsey Gouge went a 1:04.42 for third this morning.

Anton Lobanov of Nova Southeatern went a 53.78 for the fastest men’s 100 breast this morning. Florida Southern came in with the second and third fastest times. Sean Kim went a 54.72 for second and Luis Jasso came in with a 55.24.

Tampa’s Victoria Horsman went a 2:05.93 in the 200 butterfly to be seeded first going into finals tonight. Nova took second and third place seeds with Courtney DeVeny going a 2:06.26 and Caroline Oster touching at 2:08.21.

In the men’s 200 butterfly, current SSC record holder Thiago Sickert of Nova had the fastest time of the morning with a 1:46.24. Florida Southern’s Antonio Nunez went a 1:48.39 for second and St. Leo’s Evan Jacob came in third with a 1:48.83.
