Isabel Ivey, Marcos Lavado Post Strong Performances at Speedo Sectionals, Plantation Night 2

Mary Smutny of AquaKids Sharks Swim Team took first in the women’s 200 free with a dominant 2:01.81. In second was North Palm Beach Swim Club’s Nicole Gomez in 2:03.09 and in third was Gator Swim Club’s Talia Bates in 2:04.46.

Marcos Lavado of Azura Florida Aquatic won the men’s race in 1:51.48. Michael Petrides of Kamehameha Swim Club finished second 1:52.06 and Corey Main of Gator Swim Club finished third in 1:53.18.

In the women’s 100 breast, Gator Swim Club’s Isabel Ivey took first in 1:10.60. Pine Crest Swimming’s Hannah Virgin finished second in 1:13.26. In third was Nicole Hunnewell, swimming unattached, in 1:13.58.

On the men’s side, Rafael Van Leeuwarde won in 1:04.59. Second place went to Izaak Bastain of Saint Andrew’s Swimming in 1:05.19 and third went to Adan Diaz of Azura Florida Aquatic in 1:05.53.

Next up was the women’s 50 back, with Gator Swim Club’s Georgia-Mae Hohmann winning in 29.97. Southern Florida Aquatic Club’s Kelley Heron took second in 30.44 and Ella Miller of Edge Swim Club finished third in 30.64.

Jian Wang of Gator Swim Club won the men’s race in 27.04. He was followed quickly by David Van Der Colff of Azura Florida Aquatic in 27.07 and Steven Aimable in 27.30.

Gator Swim Club picked up another victory with Bates winning the 100 fly in 1:00.94. In second was Smutny in 1:01.19 and in third was Pine Crest Swimming’s Jessica Nava in 1:02.31.

Nikita Denisyako of Gator Swim Club picked up a victory in the men’s 100 fly, touching in 54.63. Lavado took second with a 54.68 and Sean Campsie of Gator Swim Club finished third in 54.82.

Ivey took first again in the women’s 400 IM, touching in 4:52.38. Kathleen Golding of Southern Florida Aquatic Club took second in 4:56.42 and Adair Sand of Bolles School Sharks finished third in 5:02.28.

Patrick Groters of Pine Crest Swimming took first in the men’s 400 IM with a 4:36.64. Southern Florida Aquatic Club’s Ricardo Roche took second with a 4:39.54 and Davis Edwards of Nu Wave Swim Club took third in 4:40.92.

Next up was the women’s 800 free relay, where Gator Swim Club’s squad of Ivey, Bates, Yekaterina Aslanidi and Hohmann took first in 8:35.19. An unattached squad took second in 8:43.35 and Pine Crest Swimming took third in 8:43.39.

In the men’s 800 free relay, Gator Swim Club’s 800 free relay dominated with a 7:44.13 with the squad of Mason Wilby, Wang, Main and Alec Dawson. Azura Florida Aquatic took second in 7:51.50 and Pine Crest Swimming took third in 8:00.70.

Anyone know where Marco Lavado is from? He swam @ Austin (opening round of arena Pro Series) and went a pretty good 100 free as I recall.
