Gavin Olson Wins 100 Back On Night Three at Mount Hood Sectionals

Speedo Sectionals at the Mount Hood Aquatic Center in Gresham, Oregon

After dominating the 200 backstroke on night one of the meet, Wasatch Front Fish Market’s Rhyan White added a 100 backstroke gold with her 1:01.60. A half second behind was 16 year old Katharine Berkoff of Missoula Aquatic Club with a 1:02.27. Mara Newman of Lake Oswego swam a 1:03.29 for third.

The men’s 100 backstroke went to Foothills Swim Team’s Gavin Olson. The 16 year old stopped the clock in 57.48. Multnomah Athletic Club’s Rob Mead finished .02 ahead of Jeffco Hurricanes’ Michael Zarian as the two touched in 58.06 and 58.08 for second and third.

An Unattached Adriana Palomino edged Scottsdale’s 200 freestyle champion Hayley Hill 4:17.64 to 4:17.82 to win the 400 freestyle. Caitlyn Wilson of Tualatin Hills was third (4:19.49).

Flying Fish Arizona’s Isaac Stump was the only swimmer under four minutes in the 400. Stump swam a 3:57.37. A pair of 4:03s- Swim Utah’s Brandon Shreeve (4:03.54) and Montrose Marlins’ Ryan King (4:03.83)- followed.

The Dolphins Portland’s Kaitlyn Dobler won the women’s 100 breaststroke in 1:10.85. University of Denver’s Bailey Andison (1:11.31) and Lake Oswego’s Eleanor Jew (1:11.39) had a close race for second.

Portland Aquatic Club’s Joshua Bottelberghe won the 100 breast for the men in 1:03.57. Jonathan Zoucha was runner up with a 1:04.40 and in third was Swim Utah’s Brody Lewis (1:04.55).

Mount Hood’s Jamie Stone neared the minute barrier to win the women’s 100 fly. The 18 year old touched in 1:00.37. Michelle Cefal was second with her 1:01.36. Two tenths further back was Katie Higgins of Phoenix Swim Club in 1:01.54.

Tualatin Hills’ Evan Carlson posted a 54.19 to win the 100 butterfly. Jeffco’s Andrew Torres (54.69) was second and his teammate Michael Zarian (55.24) finished third.

Why aren’t the results posted anywhere? I don’t understand how that would be a problem. Other sports have results posted immediately, and yet other than a few stories, I have no idea on the times of any of the swimmers in the prelims etc. Mt Hood Speedo sectional July 2017.
