Virginia Dominates on Night One of ECAC Championships

The Virginia women won five of six events on the first day of the 2016 ECAC Swimming and Diving Championships. The Cavaliers lead the women’s team scores, while Navy is in first for the men.

Women’s 200 Free Relay

Virginia’s Dina Rommel (23.40), Eryn Eddy (22.66), Audrey Gould (23.68), and Katie Miller (23.71) narrowly won the first event of the meet in 1:33.45. Penn’s Rochelle Dong (22.95), Kimberly Phan (23.32), Meagan Dollard (23.63), and Laine Higgins (23.58) took a close second in 1:33.48.

Men’s 200 Free Relay

Army’s Brandon McCredie (20.46), Chris Szekely (19.72), Devin McCall (19.98), and Evin Rude (19.93) won in 1:20.09. Rider’s Matthew Martir (20.55), Zachary Molloy (20.31), William Molloy (20.12), and Vincent Gibbons (19.86) finished second in 1:20.84.

Virginia’s James (55.91), Stranik (1:03.83), Peyton Baldwin (53.46), Reed (49.73) won by six seconds in 3:42.93. Pitt’s Samantha Baird (56.44), Maddie Marcelle (1:03.65), Jenny Young (56.83), and Tia Van Landeghem (51.19) took second in 3:48.11.

Men’s 400 Medley Relay

Army’s Josh Sembrano (49.45), Colin Kanzari (55.13), McCredie (47.98), and Szekely (43.69) won in 3:16.25. Rider’s Luke Musselman (50.50), Adam Phillips (54.96), Martir (48.22), and Gibbons (44.47) took second in 3:18.55.
