California Baptist Men and Women Win RMAC Championships

The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships concluded this evening. The women’s 200 backstroke and men’s 1650 free RMAC records were broken.

In the finals of the women’s 1650 freestyle Kyleigh Troxel of Lindenwood won the event in the time of 17:01.94. Cal Baptist took silver and bronze in the event. Christie Halverson took second place with a 17:11.37 and her teammate Courtney Chacon went a 17:34.85 for third.

Sam Bryant added to his list of wins this weekend with the men’s 1650 freestyle for Colorado Mesa. He took the gold with a 15:38.90 and with this time he broke the previous RMAC record of 15:41.03. Bryant won the men’s 1000 free, 400 IM and 500 free as well this weekend. Robert Griffith of Cal Baptist came in second with a 15:40.44 and his teammate Elijah Barrows  touched in at 15:51.25 for the bronze.

In the women’s 100 freestyle Western State’s Randi Yarnell won the event with a 50.82. Yarnell also won the 50 and 200 freestyle this weekend. Cal Baptist’s Patricia Hapsari touched the wall at a 50.85 for the silver and Lindenwood’s Bethany Steffes came in third place with a 51.72.

Lindenwood’s Serghi Golban bested his morning swim and won the men’s 100 freestyle with a 44.07. Cal Baptist’s Alexis Ohmar took the silver with a 44.70. Sky Hirsch from Colorado Mesa came in third with a 45.11.

Mary Saiz from Colorado Mesa bested her morning swim in the women’s 200 backstroke with a 1:58.01. With this time she reset the RMAC record she broke this morning. Lindenwood’s Alecia McGillivray came in second with a 2:03.16. Cal Baptist’s Kylie Mihld swam to the bronze with a 2:04.05.

Cal Baptist’s Joshua Hanson won the men’s 200 backstroke with the time of 1:45.81. Justin Hastings came in second with a 1:47.75 and Lindenwood’s Krzysztof Jankiewicz placed third with a 1:48.02.

In the women’s 200 breastroke, Alena Rumiantceva of Cal Baptist won the event in a 2:15.82. Colorado Mesa’s Miranda Reetz took the silver with a 2:19.31. Lindenwood’s Ewa Dymarek went a 2:20.44 for the bronze.

Mateusz Pacholczyk won the men’s 200 breastroke in the time of 1:59.20. Colorado Mesa took the silver and bronze. Josh Bedford came second with a 2:02.32. His teammate Ryan Gifford came in third place with a 2:03.28.

Lindenwood’s women’s 400 freestyle relay won tonight in the time of 3:27.07 with Kinga Lesinska (52.21), Bethany Steffes (51.47), Kate Stauffer (51.74) and McGillivray (51.65). It was a race for the silver between Cal Baptist and Colorado School of Mines. Cal Baptist’s team of Hailey Golden (53.05), Robin Smallwood (52.37), Halverson (52.06) and Hapsari (50.89) took second with a 3:28.37. Colorado School of Mines came in third (3:28.89) with Brittany Holloway (52.56), Sarah Berube (52.11), Abigail Wong (53.00) and Carrie Kralovec (51.22).

Cal Baptist’s men won the 400 freestyle relay. The team of Hanson (44.45), Bernando Valentim (44.75), Brent Teraoka (45.27) and Ohmar (44.38) went a 2:58.88 for the gold. Lindenwood went a 3:00.02 with Golban (43.78), Joey Martin (45.80), Sam Stapleton (45.10) and Michal Szczukowski (45.34) for second place. Colorado Mesa was right behind with a 2:00.10 and the team of Hirsch (45.41), Hastings (44.36), Bryant (44.98) and Gifford (45.35).
