The 2024 Big Ten Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships continued on Thursday Feb. 22, from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind., with the Day 2 finals.
The Day 2 events are the 500 freestyle, 200 IM, 50 freestyle, 1-meter diving and the 400 medley relay.

Big Ten Women’s 500 Freestyle
Michigan sophomore Katelyn Crom was extremely quick in the final 100 to surge past the competition for the win in the 500 freestyle. Crom got to the wall in 4:37.24 to finish a couple tenths ahead of the field.
She closed with a 26.17 and earned the NCAA A cut.
Indiana junior Anna Peplowski, who had the top seed from prelims, finished second in 4:37.47.
Northwestern’s Ayla Splitz was third in 4:40.28.
Wisconsin’s Abby Carlson was fourth in 4:41.39, followed by Indiana junior Ching Hwee Gan (4:41.71).

Big Ten Women’s 200 IM
Wisconsin senior Phoebe Bacon was a second faster than the field to earn the title in the 200 IM. She finished in 1:54.29.
Ohio State grad student Josephine Panitz took second in 1:55.31, ahead of Minnesota senior Megan Van Berkom, who moved up several spots in the finals to finish in 1:55.88.
Ohio State junior Paige Hall finished fourth in 1:56.23.
Michigan’s Stephanie Balduccini took fifth (1:56.60), leading three Wolverines in the bottom four.

Junior Teresa Ivan won the race in 21.74, followed by grad student Amy Fulmer (21.79) and senior Katherine Zenick (21.81).
Michigan’s Brady Kendall took fourth (21.14).
