Aleksandr Sadovnikov Grabs 5th in World in 100 Fly 51.50

Aleksandr Sadovnikov picked up another fast time with a swift effort in the men’s 100-meter fly at the 2016 Russian Nationals.

Sadovnikov won the finale in a time of 51.50, moving him to fifth in the world. Li Zhuhao (51.24), Konrad Czerniak (51.31), Laszlo Cseh (51.40) and Piero Codia (51.42) are the only swimmers faster so far this year.

Evgeny Koptelov, meanwhile posted a second-place 52.05 to also beat the Russian Olympic selection time for a spot on the Olympic roster.

Nikita Konovalov (52.17), Alexander Popkov (52.25), Viacheslav Prudnikov (52.61), Daniil Pakhomov (52.67), Nikolay Skvortsov (52.76) and Roman Shevliakov (52.91) closed out the rest of the finals.
