2019 French Open Swimming: Charlotte Bonnet, Jeremy Desplanches Take Care of Business

Today marked the first day of the 2019 French Open Swimming hosted at the Odyssée Aquatic Complex in Chartres.

With the meet running only two days, swimmers from the French National Team are competing in several different events each day – getting one more go before the 2019 FINA World Championships.

Men’s 1500m Freestyle Final

It was a french-dominated A final in the men’s 1500m freestyle. Cruising to first with a time of 15:19.80 was David Aubry of France. Damien Joly got to the wall second at a 15:20.39.

In third with a time of 15:25.60 was Paul Beaugand. Clement Batte placed fourth (15:36.26). Breaking up the french field was Ahmed-Ayoub Hafnaoui of Tunisia finishing fifth with a time of 15:51.86. Jakob Goodman of Great Britain finished sixth (16:15.09).

Women’s 50m Butterfly A Final

It was Ranomi Kromowidjojo of the Netherlands who got to the wall first in the women’s 50 fly with a time of 26.12. Not far behind her was Marie Wattel of France and Holly Baratt of Australia. Both touched with a time of 26.17, tying for second.

In fourth with a time of 26.23 was Jeanette Ottesen of Denmark.

Taking fifth in the event with a time of 26.36 was Maaike Waard of the Netherlands. In sixth (26.48) was Melanie Henique of France. Kim Busch of the Netherlands touched seventh (26.67) with Lena Bousquin of France finishing eighth (27.09).

Men’s 50m Freestyle A Final

Taking first in the A final of the men’s 50m free was Marcelo Chierighini of Brazil. He finished with a time of 22.32. In second was Jesse Puts from the Netherlands. Puts finished a close 22.38. Maxime Grousset finished third with a time of 22.42

Tying for fourth and finishing with a time of 22.44 was Clement Mignon of France and Pedro Spajari of Brazil. The two finished with a time of 22.44.

Close to making it a three-way tie was Gabriel Santos of Brazil finishing sixth with a 22.45.

Oussama Sahnoune of Algeria finished seventh with a time of 22.57 while Yonel Govindin of France finished eighth (22.74).

Men’s 200m Freestyle A Final

Breno Correia of Brazil cruised to first in the A final of the men’s 200m free. He finished with a time of 1:47.83.

A close second and third went to Davide Casarin of Italy and Jack McMillan of Ireland. Casarin finished at 1:49.73 with McMillan finishing at 1:49.83. Just out of the 1:40 range and finishing fourth with a time of 1:50.16 was Jonathan Atsu of France. Mehdi Lagili of Tunisia finished fifth (1:50.46). In sixth (1:50.66) was Stan-Johanes Pijnenburg of the Netherlands.

A close seventh (1:51.28) and eighth (1:51.35) went to Roman Fuchs and Alexandre Derache.

Women’s 50m Breaststroke A Final

Finishing under 31 to win the A final of the women’s 50m breast was Jhennifer Conceicao of Brazil. She finished with a time of 30.84.

Getting to the wall next with a time of 31.48 was Rosey Metz of the Netherlands. Teammate Yes Schouten finished third (31.58).

A close fourth and fifth went to Lisa Mamie Switzerland and Cornelia Pammer of Austria Mamie finished fourth (31.82) while Pammer took fifth (31.85).

Finishing sixth with a time of 32.20 was Pamela Alencar of Brazil. Matilde Schroeder of Denmark finished seventh (32.38) with Fanny Deberghes finished eighth (32.41).

Men’s 100m Breaststroke A Final

Arno Kamminga of the Netherlands posted a sub-minute 100m breaststroke today to finish first in the A final. He finished at a 59.72. Placing second with a time of 1:00.58 was Joao Gomes Jr. of Brazil. Darragh Greene of Ireland finished third (1:00.69).

All in the 101 range were Tobias B. Bjerg of Denmark finishing fourth (101.33), Zaccaria Casna of Italy placing fifth (101.61) and Theo Bussiere of France taking sixth (101.88).

Marco Koch of Germany got to the wall seventh (102.41) with Jeremy Desplanches of Switzerland placing eighth (102.74).

Women’s 400m IM A Final

Hannah Miley of Great Britain cruised to first in the A final of the women’s 400m IM. She finished over 10 seconds ahead of the field with a time of 4:46.14.

Touching second with a time of 4:58.15 was Anna Fave of France. The rest of the field was also dominated by the french. Name Horter finished third with a time of 4:58.53. Lilou Ressencourt finished fourth (5:01.88).

In fifth with a time of 5:04.11 was Alexander Cormier. Sixth (5:07.03) went to Lucile Mouret. Alexia Saurel finished seventh (5:09.25) while Noah Bondouy placed eighth (5:13.11).

Men’s 100m Butterfly A Final

Up next in today’s lineup was the A final of the men’s 100 fly. Taking the event with a time of 51.44 was Mehdy Metella of France. Dutch teammates Mathys Goosen and Nyls Korstanje finished a close second and third. Goosen finished second (53.60) with korstanje taking third (53.62).

Next to the wall was Jacob Peters of Great Britain, finishing fourth with a time of 54.24. Taking fifth (54.62) and sixth (54.68) were Flavien Aubry and Nicholas Vermorel of France.

Ramon Klenz of Germany finished seventh (54.81) with France’s Pierre Henry Arrenous just out of the 54 range placing eighth (55.08).

Women’s 100 Backstroke A Final

Kira Toussaint of the Netherlands finished under the minute mark in the A final of the women’s 100 back. She won the event with a time of 59.91. Finishing less than a second later and finishing second was Laura Riedemann of Germany.

The only woman finishing at the 1:01 mark was Mie Oestergaard Nielsen of Denmark. She placed third (1:01.45). All finishing in the 1:02 range were Mathilde Cini of France (1:02.16), Lila Touili of France (1:02.43) and Maaike Waard of the Netherlands taking sixth (1:02.48).

Placing seventh in the event with a time of 1:04.09 was Holly Barratt of Australia. Louise Lefebvre finished eighth (1:04.80).

Men’s 50m Backstroke A Final

It was a close A final of the men’s 50m backstroke with the top five finishing at the 25 mark. Jeremy Stavius of France got his hand to the wall first with a time of 25.09. Placing second with a time of 25.38 was Shane Ryan of Ireland.

Tying for third with a time of 25.66 were French teammates Bernhad Reitshammer and Yohann Ndoye Brouard.

Finishing a close fifth behind them with a time of 25.69 was Stanislas Huille. Sixth (26.10) went to Paul-Gabriel Bedel, Pierre-Yves placed seventh (26.29) and Ladislas Salczer finished eighth (27.03).

Women’s 200m Butterfly A Final

Italy’s Aurora Petronio won today’s A final of the women’s 200m fly with a time of 2:12.66. Behind her was Fantine Lesfafre of France touching second with a time of 2:13.33.

Winner of the women’s 400m IM A final Hannah Miley placed third in this event, respectively. She finished with a time of 2:14.58. Alice Aubry of France finished fourth with a time of 2:17.68.

A second separated Sarah Oualid Girard and Sarah Moreau. Oualid Girard placed fifth (2:21.74) while Moreau finished sixth (2:22.75).

Finishing seventh in the event with a time of 2:23.39 was Naome Horter. Valentine Jeanneret took eighth (2:23.85).

Men’s 200m IM A Final

Taking an easy victory in the A final of the men’s 200m IM was Jeremy Desplanches of Switzerland. He got to the wall at a 1:58.06. Finishing second with a time of 2:01.83 was Raphael Stacchiotti of Luxembourg. Third (2:02.31) went to Giovanni Sorriso of Italy.

Both in the 2:03 range were Theo Berry and Geoffrey Renard of France. Berry finished fourth (2:03.59) with Regard taking fifth (2:03.90).

Placing sixth in the event was James Mcfazden of Great Britain. He finished with a time of 2:04.39.

Arjan Knipping of the Netherlands and Sebastian Steffan finished seventh (2:04.51) and eighth (2:04.53).

Women’s 400m Freestyle A Final

Joanna Desbordes of France took first today in the women’s 400m freestyle. She won A final with a time of 4:17.48. Finishing second at 4:20 flat was Mika Heideyer of France.

Nolwenn Nunes and Cyrielle Duhamel both finished in the 4:20 range as well. Nunes finished third (4:20.48) while Duhamel took fourth (4:20.94).

Finishing nearly 10 seconds later and finishing fifth with a time of 4:30.72 was Alexia Laurel. Placing sixth with a time of 4:34.05 was Orlane Hita.

Women’s 200m Breaststroke A Final

It was Camille Dauba of France who won the A final of the women’s 200m breast. She got to the wall first with a time of 2:26.94.

A close second (2:28.68) and third (2:28.90) went to Lisa Mamie of SUI and Kayla Van Der Merwe of Great Britain. Placing fourth with a time of 2:29.64 was Fanny Deberghes of France.

Just out of the 2:29 mark was Fantine Lesaffre finishing fifth with a time of 2:30.06. Sixth (2:30.87) went to Lucie Delmas.

Swimming again and placing seventh with a time of 2:31.16 was Hannah Miley. Pamela Alencar of Brazil finished eighth (2:32.61).

Men’s 200m Backstroke A Final

Leonardo De Deus of Brazil got his hand to the wall first, winning the A final of the men’s 200m back with a time of 1:58.03. Following him in the two minute mark was Maxence Orange of France finishing with a time of 2:00.93.

In third place with a time of 2:01.28 was Lorenzo Mora of Italy. Behind him was Antoine Herlem finishing fourth (2:03.19) and Aymeric Roignant placing fifth (2:03.74).

Coming in sixth place was Conor Ferguson with a time of 2:04.19. Close behind him was Ladislas Salczer finishing seventh with a time of 2:04.23. Pierre Bouchon finished eighth (2:09.12).

Women’s 100m Freestyle A Final

It was a close A final of the women’s 100m free. Finishing things off was a close race between Charlotte Bonnet of France and Femke Heemskerk of the Netherlands. Bonnet finished first with a time of 54.17 with Heemskerk finishing second at a 54.19.

A close third went to Beryl Gastaldello of France. She finished with a time of 54.32. Placing fourth from the Netherlands with a time of 54.70 was Ranomi Komowidjojo. Close behind was Marie Wattel of France taking fifth with a time of 54.74.

Kim Busch of the Netherlands placed sixth in the event with a time of 55.05. Marjolein Delno finished seventh (55.44) while Assia Touati took eighth (56.10).
