More Records Fall On Final Day Of FINA World Masters Championships

The last day of the 2017 FINA World Masters Championships in Budapest, Hungary did not disappoint, with many more records falling. Take a look below to see all of the records that fell on the last day of the meet!

25-29 Age Group

Spain’s Oscar Pereiro Carril set a new championship record of 26.11 in the 50 backstroke while Estefania Milanez of Brazil set a new championship record in the women’s event with a 30.20.

Italy’s Matteo Montanari won the 400 free in a new championship record of 4:05.09.

Marek Botik of Slovakia set a world record in the men’s 50 breast with a 27.65.

30-34 Age Group

Brazil’s Leonardo Sumida set a new championship record in the 50 backstroke with a 26.54, while Ukraine’s Iryna Bolshakova set a championship record of 30.57 in the women’s event.

Great Britain’s Sophie Casson won the women’s 400 free in a championship record of 4:22.91.

35-39 Age Group

Ryan Pini of Papua New Guinea added another record to his name, winning the 50 backstroke in a new championship and world record of 26.43.

Russia’s Sergei Geibel set a new championship record in the men’s 50 breast with a 28.85, while Germany’s Nicole Heidemann set a new world record in the same event with her 32.67.

40 – 44 Age Group

Finland’s Raakel Luoto set a new world and championship record in the 50 backstroke with a 30.47, just by the old record by just one one-hundredth.

45-49 Age Group

Turley’s Serkan Atasay broke the world and championship record in the 50 backstroke with a 27.67, and would come back to do the same in the 50 breaststroke with a 29.51.

Australia’s Linley Frame set a new world record in the 50 breaststroke with a 33.56.

50-54 Age Group

Great Britain’s Mike Hodgson set a new world and championship record in the 50 breaststroke with a 30.26.

55-59 Age Group

Denmark’s Pia Thulstrup added another record to her name with a new world and championship mark in the 50 breaststroke (36.59).

60 – 64 Age Group

Russia’s Andre Steynberg set a new championship record in the 50 backstroke with a 31.18, just half a second off the world record.

Dan Stevenson of the United States set a new world record in the 400 free with a 4:38.37.

65-69 Age Group

Laura Val of the United States took down the world record in the 50 backstroke by exactly one second, setting the new mark with a 34.46.

France’s Patrick Moreau set a new championship record in the men’s 400 free with a 5:05.48, while the United States’ Jacki Hirsty set a new championship record in the women’s event in 5:39.75.

Australia’s Stuart Ellicott set a new championship record in the 50 breaststroke with a 33.69.

75-79 Age Group

Hungary’s Miklos Kovats broke the championship record in the 50 backstroke with a 39.05.

Brazil’s Antonio Orselli set a new world and championship record in the 50 breaststroke with a 39.22.

80-84 Age Group

Germany’s Werner Schnabel set a new championship record in the men’s 400 free with a 6:21.00.

Russia’s Mikhail Farafonov won the 50 breast in a new championship record of 42.12.

85-89 Age Group

Australia’s Dorothy Dickey set a new championship record in the 400 freestyle with a 8:21.99.

Belgium’s Agnes van Obberghen set a new championship record in the women’s 50 breast with a 52.86, just a second off the world record.

90-94 Age Group

Sweden’s Kerstin Gjores set a new championship record of 1:06.84 in the 50 backstroke.

95-99 Age Group

Poland’s Kazimierz Mrowczynski set a new championship record in the 50 breaststroke with a 1:17.55.
