The Yale men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will welcome a new assistant coach on July 1st. Molly Chamberlain will join a staff led by Robert J.H. Kiphuth Head Coach of Women’s Swimming and Diving Jim Henry and Diving Coach Chris Bergere.

Chamberlain has several years of Division I coaching under her belt. She has spent the past two years as an assistant coach to the Sacred Heart University women’s swimming and diving team. During her two years, she helped guide the team to a third-place finish at the 2017 Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships, and a sixth-place finish at the 2018 Northeast Conference Championships.

Chamberlain previously coached at her alma mater, Siena College, for three years. She also spent four seasons with the Albany Starfish Swim Club, working primarily with distance and sprint freestyle swimmers. She developed many accomplished swimmers while coaching at Albany, sending athletes to Division I programs, such as Michigan, Ohio State and Bucknell.

As a swimmer at Siena College, Chamberlain was an eight-time top-three finisher at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships. She was All-Academic Team in the conference all four years of her collegiate career, and was named MVP of the Siena College women’s swimming team following her junior season. Chamberlain also currently holds several Siena College women’s swimming records, including records in the 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle.

“We are all extremely excited to have Molly Chamberlain join our team. She is an incredible coach and an even better person,” said Head Coach Jim Henry. “Molly’s intuition and ability to connect with her students is impressive. She will be an awesome addition to our family. We can’t wait to have her as the newest Bulldog!”

The previous assistant coach, Kerry Smith, was announced as the next women’s swimming and diving head coach at Stony Brook University in early May.
