Washington State Earns 2027 Verbal From Oregon 6A State Champ Tessa Aberle

NEW COMMIT: Washington State University has secured a verbal commitment for Fall 2027 from Tessa Aberle of Clackamas, Oregon. Aberle is a Futures qualifier who excels in sprint freestyle and backstroke.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am beyond excited to announce that I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at Washington State University!! I’m incredibly grateful to my family and friends who have supported me along the way; I wouldn’t be here without you all. I would also like to give a big thank you to all my coaches throughout the years, especially Coach Emily, who has played a huge role in helping me become the athlete and person I am today. Finally, thank you to Coach Russ and all of the WSU staff for believing in me and for giving me this opportunity. GO COUGS!!”

Aberle, who trains year-round with Lake Oswego Swim Club, most recently earned six best times and earned two first-place finishes at the AZ MAC Speedo Invite last month. She had six top-6 finishes at the Washington Open in January and won the 100 free at OSI Arena Senior Championships in March. Last summer, she competed at Mt. Hood Speedo Sectionals.

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 23.88
  • 100 free – 51.63
  • 200 free – 1:51.78
  • 100 back – 56.45
  • 200 IM – 2:05.02

A rising senior at Clackamas High School, Aberle earned gold in the 200 free and bronze in the 100 free at the 2026 Oregon 6A State Championships. She placed fourth in the 50 free and fifth in the 100 back at the state meet during her sophomore season.

Washington State finished second at the 2026 Mountain West Conference Championships. Aberle’s top time in the 100 back would’ve placed in the C-final.
