Joao de Lucca talked after winning the 200 free on the second night of the TYR Pro Swim Series in Knoxville with a 1:49 to just hold off 16-year-old Gianluca Urlando. De Lucca said he is helping coach at Cardinal Aquatics in Louisville and those kids he is coaching inspired him to chase his dreams again.

De Lucca said that he almost gave up competitive swimming completely but felt bad if he was pushing kids to chase their dreams and he gave up on his own. He is hoping he can win a medal at either the World Championships or the Olympics in a relay or an individual event.

Brazil broke the world record at Short Course Worlds in the 4×200 free relay and de Lucca said he wants to be a part of that relay in the future. De Lucca also said he is going to aim for the Pan American Games and the World Championships this year and try to swim well for Brazil.
