Toronto Titans’ Summer McIntosh Leaves ISL for Return to Canada

The downside of being a 15-year-old swimming prodigy is that occasionally school gets in the way.

Summer McIntosh announced on Instagram this week that she is heading back home to restart school after an outstanding start to the ISL season. McIntosh, who represented Canada at the Olympics this summer and turned 15 in August, was a huge part of a fast start for the Titans. Tenth grade, though, is a non-negotiable in the schedule.

From the post:

“Very thankful and so proud to be part of the @iswimleague and @torontotitans_isl ! the last few weeks have been so much fun racing, meeting amazing swimmers from around the world and an incredible learning experience. now back to start school, but I will be cheering from home for the best team ever!!!”

McIntosh was a big part of the Titans getting seven points from its first two matches, including the 2020 expansion side’s first ever match win in ISL Match 5. She’ll be missed starting with Thursday’s ISL Match 7.

McIntosh won the 200 butterfly and 400 individual medley in ISL Match 1, then claimed the 400 free in Match 5, showing the distance freestyle star’s range. She departs with the top time in the 400 free in the league at 3:58.78, more than two seconds faster than Titans teammate Julia Hassler and her first Canadian short-course record. She’s also second in the 400 IM to fellow Canadian Bailey Andison of the DC Trident and sixth in the 200 fly.
