Texas A&M Gets Started on Class of 2025 With In-State Verbal from 6A State Champion Tyler Hulet

NEW COMMIT: The Woodlands, Texas, backstroker Tyler Hulet has opted to stay in state for his college career, handing the Texas A&M Aggies their first early verbal for the start of the 2021-22 season.

Hulet swims year-round with The Woodlands swim Team and owns the U.S. Open standards in both backstroke events. He placed 20th in the 200m back this past summer at Junior Nationals after winning the 50m back at Southern Zone Seniors. Last winter, he raced to 18th in the 200 back at Juniors West before going on to earn bronze in the 100m back at College Station Sectionals.

A current junior at The Woodlands High School, Hulet is a two-time Texas UIL 6A State Championship finalist. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American won the 100 back and finished sixth in the 100 fly as a sophomore while racing both of those events during his freshman season as well.

50 back – 22.64
100 back – 48.51
200 back – 1:47.79
100 fly – 48.92

In LCM, his best times include:

50m back – 26.78
100m back – 57.64
200m back – 2:05.04
100m fly – 57.01

Hulet has made some major improvements over the past two seasons, dropping four seconds in the 100 back, 15 seconds in the 200 back, and five seconds in the 100 fly. It took a 47.71/1:44.31 to score in the 100/200 back at the 2019 SEC Championships, but with just under two years of club swimming still to go before arriving in College Station and the rate he’s improving at, Hulet will become a valuable addition to the Aggies’ lineup.
