Goldminds: Positive Parent Pointers – Part 1

When a coach wants to learn how to be a better coach, they go to a coaching course or a coaching conference…or they study books and videos about coaching. Sometimes coaches learn by working with, watching, talking to and listening to other coaches.

If a swimmer wants to learn how to swim faster and race more competitively, they join a swim team, learn swim techniques and racing skills from a coach and discover what it takes to be a competitive swimmer by watching and learning from other swimmers.

Parents play a vitally important role in the development of every swimmer…but where do they go to learn how to become a better swim parent? How do they find out what it takes to be a supportive swimming parent—one who knows and understands how to help their children realize their potential? Well, you can start right here!

Here are 30 things that swimming parents can do to help their child realize his or her potential—as swimmers…and as human beings.
