Swimming Hall of Fame Hires Kyle Mills and Ashleigh Shay to Lead Technology and Assist in Marketing

The International Swimming Hall of Fame and Swimming World is excited to announce that Kyle Mills and Ashleigh Shay have joined ISHOF staff.

Kyle Mills will hold the title of Chief Technology Officer. He is coming to us after working at the American Swimming Coaches Association for 3 years where he did the following:

  • Oversaw all Digital Marketing, Web Development, Video Content Creation, Partner and Sponsor Management, Customer Service, and Virtual Clinics.
  • Created and Maintained the ASCA DOC Talks Learning Initiative, ASCA LIVE, and the ASCA Talks Library.

Kyle Mills is a self-starter and intuitive learner.  He impressed me with his ability to be a team player when he led ASCA in creating more efficient work systems replacing staff labor during COVID related staff reductions at ASCA. – Brent Rutemiller, CEO of the International Swimming Hall of Fame

Prior to ASCA, Kyle was the Director of the Video-Evaluation Program at GoSwim.tv. During that time he analyzed thousands of swimmers’ strokes,

Kyle Graduated from Towson University with a Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science, 2014 and further his education with following certifications:

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Cloud Computing, 2021
  • Business Data Analytics, at Coursera through Duke University, 2021
  • Software Project Management Specialization, through Coursera and University of Alberta, 2020

Kyle will be working closely with Steve West – Web Developer, Brent Rutemiller – CEO, Laurie Marchwinski – COO, Ashleigh Shay in Marketing.  His primary goal is to update the technology of the organization with better tools to manage databases, e-commerce, content and analysis.


Ashleigh will hold the title of Marketing and News Manager.  She grew out of our Intern Program working with Brandi as our Marketing Coordinator where she did the following:
  • Assisted with the development, implementation and management of Swimming World and International Swimming Hall of Fame social media strategy

  • Created, posted, and monitored engagement of social media content for aquatic sports (swimming, water polo, diving, synchronized swimming)

  • Collaborated with editorial and marketing teams as needed for coverage of news events, advertising, and marketing client content

  • Communicated with aquatic industry professionals, athletes, and influencers via social media to create a strong network

It makes us extremely proud that Ashleigh evolved from a freelancer to become a full-time employee. Her attention to detail and ability to learn and apply knowledge quickly is impressive.  We are also excited that she brings marketing views of the younger generation and has insight to capitalize on social media trends – Brent Rutemiller – ISHOF CEO

Prior to coming on board full-time, Ashleigh worked at Georgetown University in the McDonough School of Business as well as in Sports Communications at the University of Georgia.

She graduated from the University of Georgia with the following degrees:                                                             

  • Masters of Science, Sports Management and Policy with a focus in Finance, Contracts Law, Marketing, 2019

  • Bachelor of Journalism, Public Relations, Cum Laude, 2017

  • Grady Sports Media Certification Program Graduate, 2017

  • Minor in Communication Studies with a concentration in Social Media and Mass Communication

She will be working directly in sales, marketing.  She will also assist with the publishing of online bios for the ISHOF inductees and current athletes, maintaining online records, writing sponsored articles, and helping with breaking news.
