This is the Swim Poll of the Week for Friday January 17, 2020, sponsored by Strechcordz Swim Training Products. In our last poll, we wanted to know: Do you favor the decision of countries, such as Japan with Daiya Seto, to award automatic Olympic qualification to certain athletes?

Japan’s Daiya Seto has already been named to Japan’s 2020 Olympic team because he won two gold medals at last year’s World Championships. Some other countries do the same thing with their athletes to assure they are 100% focused on the Games rather than trying to make sure they are fully rested for their qualification meet? Do you like this approach or do you prefer the United States’ cut-throat approach to “win (or get second) and you’re in”?

We asked and you answered with…

Here are the answers:

Yes (67%)

No (33%)

Of course Japan can choose their Olympic Team any way they wish just as we can choose our team the way we want to.

I cannot imagine another country telling us how to select our team.
