NEW COMMIT: Villanova University has earned a new verbal commitment for the 2020-21 season and beyond from freestyle sprinter Lexi Elkovitch of New Albany, Ohio.

Elkovitch swims year-round with New Albany Aquatic Club and most recently raced three events at Cleveland Speedo Sectionals this summer. At NCSAs in March, she raced three individual events and was part of two of her team’s relays. Also competing for New Albany High School, Elkovitch placed sixth in the 50 free and ninth in the 100 free as a junior after finishing 24th in both of those event during her sophomore season.

She told Swimming World:

“Throughout my college search I was looking for a school I would be proud to represent, and I can say without a doubt I will be honored to wear a Villanova cap come 2020. A rich athletic tradition combined with academic excellence is hard to come by, so I feel like I have hit the jackpot with Villanova. I would like to thank my family, friends, and coaches for helping me come to this decision. I cannot wait to be a part of such an amazing family! GO WILDCATS! #NovaNation”

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 23.61
  • 100 free – 50.70
  • 200 free – 1:53.12

When she suits up for the Wildcats next fall, Elkovitch will join a class that also includes Molly Benson and Audrey Pastorek. Elkovitch has continuously made improvements each season; over the past two years, she has dropped over a second in the 50 free, three in the 100 free and four in the 200 free. Villanova is coming off yet another successful season where they earned their sixth-straight Big East team title.
