NEW COMMIT: Charlotte, N.C. native and rising high school senior Jackson Davis has declared his verbal intention to continue his academic and swimming career at the University of South Carolina beginning next fall.

Primarily a sprint freestyler and backstroker, Davis owns two Summer Juniors standards and swims year-round with SwimMAC Carolina. He most recently competed at Junior Nationals where he recorded a pair of best times after registering four top-8 finishes at North Carolina LCM Seniors. Last winter, he raced three events at Juniors East before going on to take ninth in the 100 back at North Carolina SCY Seniors.

Also competing for Charlotte Latin High School, Davis is a four-time NCISSA DI State Championship finalist. He won the 50/100 free combo as a junior after taking first in the 100 free as well as second in the 100 back during his sophomore season.

He told Swimming World:

“I’m more than excited to announce that I have verbally committed to the University of South Carolina for Fall of 2020. USC has an incredible Business School, and an awesome Swim and Dive Program where I know I can continue to reach my education and swimming goals.

The strong leadership that exists and hard working mentality was just what I was looking for in a team! Thank you to my parents, teammates, teachers, and all of my coaches for their support!”

His best times include:

  • 50 free – 21.39
  • 100 free – 46.69
  • 100 back – 50.57
  • 200 back – 1:50.82

When he suits up for the Gamecocks as a member of the class of 2024, Davis will add his talents to a sprint group that’ll include Dylan Delaney and Allen Ross as well as a backstroke group led by Nathan Walton. Davis has made big improvements over the past two seasons, dropping over a second in the 50 free, three in the 100 free/100 back and five in the 200 back.
