San Diego State Lands First 2022 Verbal from Colorado 5A State Finalist Abby Storm

NEW COMMIT: Junior National qualifier Abigail “Abby” Storm of Littleton, Colo. has given San Diego State University their first verbal commitment for the fall of 2022.

She told Swimming World:

“It is with so much excitement and gratitude that I announce my verbal commitment to swim & study at San Diego State University!! I can’t thank my family, friends, coaches & teammates enough for their endless support and encouragement over the years!! GO AZTECS!!!!?️”

A talented backstroker, Storm does her club swimming with University of Denver Hilltoppers and earned two best times at Juniors West last December before going on to compete at the TYR Pro Swim Series in Knoxville. In Summer 2019, she finaled in the 100m back at Mount Hood Sectionals after recording a pair of top-10 finishes at the CO LCM Open.

Her best times include:

50 back – 26.12
100 back – 54.90
200 back – 2:01.70
50 free – 23.86

Currently a junior at Chatfield High School, Storm placed fourth in the 100 back at the Colorado 5A State Championships in 2020.

Even with 1.5 years to go, Storm will make an immediate impact as she would’ve scored in the A-final of the 100 back at the 2020 Mountain West Championships. Under head coach Mike Shrader, the Aztecs scored 1463.50 points – the most in conference championship history – to successfully defend their Mountain West title in 2020.
