Ross Report Episode #3: Division II Indianapolis Greyhounds Having a Dream Season

Swimming World presents the video series called the Ross Report. It will be a weekly series where our head video producer Andy Ross will travel around the country to tell the stories of the swimmers and divers you don’t know much about.

This week’s Ross Report focuses on the University of Indianapolis Greyhounds, the number one ranked team currently in Division II.

The Greyhounds have had a meteoric rise to the top of Division II as they placed 15th at the NCAA’s in 2016. In 2017 they were 11th, and in 2018 they were 3rd. This season, they have already taken down the four-time defending national champions Queens, and have achieved the number one ranking.

And yet, according to seniors Guilherme Zavaneli and Rodrigo Codo Berti, as well as sophomore Adam Rosipal, there is still more work to do.

The Greyhounds are coming off their first ever men’s conference title in school history last season after they took down Division II powerhouse Drury at the GLVC Championships last year. Drury was the last men’s team to win the national title in 2014 before Queens rattled off four straight titles.

Last season, the Greyhounds were third at the NCAA’s behind Queens and Cal Baptist, as the latter has since moved up to Division I. This season, without Cal Baptist to worry about, the Greyhounds have already beaten Queens in a head-to-head matchup, but the Indianapolis swimmers know that winning the national title will not be easy, and their competition won’t just come from their rivals in Charlotte.

The expectations are high for the Greyhounds, who have returned all of their scorers from the Division II NCAA’s a year ago. It has been a dream season, but the job is not done.
