Purdue Adds Verbal from Breaststroker Kevin O’Dare of Upper Dublin Aquatic Club

NEW COMMIT: Huntington Valley, Penn. native and talented breaststroker Kevin O’Dare has announced his verbal commitment to Purdue University and will join the Boilermakers as a member of the class of 2024.

His older sister, Annie O’Dare, is currently a freshman breaststroker at Auburn.

O’Dare does his club swimming with Upper Dublin Aquatic Club and owns the Winter Juniors standard in the 100 breast. He most recently competed at NCSAs this past summer where he earned four best times and placed 25th in the 50m breast after earning bronze in the 100m breast at Middle Atlantic Seniors. At NCAP’s Tom Dolan Invite in December, he took 11th in the 100 breast and notched a trio of lifetime bests. Also competing for La Salle College High School, O’Dare finished fourth in the 100 breast at the Pennsylvania State Championships during his junior season.

He told Swimming World:

“I am blessed to announce my verbal commitment to Purdue University! I can’t thank my family, friends, and coaches enough for all that they have done for me. I can’t wait to be a Boilermaker!”

His best times include:

  • 100 breast – 56.37
  • 200 breast – 2:12.81
  • 200 IM – 1:54.15
  • 50 free – 22.57

When he arrives in West Lafayette at the start of the 2020-21 season, O’Dare will add his talents to a breaststroke training group that’ll include Trent Pellini and Nicholas Sherman. He will also join Coleman ModglinGriffin Seaver and Ethan Shaw as a member of the Boilermakers’ class of 2024.
