North Carolina State head coach Braden Holloway says the idea of a relay start using the wedge was first used in the summer of 2012. By the 2014 NCAAs, only two schools were doing it consistently: NC State and Texas. Louisville joined the group in the fall of 2014. And today, the start has expanded to other countries.
