The Harvard men’s swimming and diving team remained undefeated after dismissing Columbia, 209-86, Friday afternoon at Blodgett Pool. The decision ran the Crimson’s record to 4-0 (3-0 Ivy League) with the Lions dropping to 1-3 (0-3 Ivy League).

The Harvard women won 192-103 victory over Columbia. The decision improved the Crimson’s record to 3-0 overall (3-0 Ivy League), while the Lions fell to 2-2 (1-2 Ivy League). Mei Lynn Colby was victorious in the sprints, posting the top time in the 50-yard freestyle (season-best 24.15) and the 100 version of the event (52.20). Brittany Usinger finished ahead of the pack in the 100 back with a time of 56.80, and then followed it with a 54.99 season-best performance in the 100 fly. Sonia Wang, meanwhile, cleaned up in the 200 fly (2:02.65) and the 200 back (2:02.41), and Jaycee Yegher emerged from the meet with first-place efforts in the 100 breast (1:05.17) and the 200 breast (2:20.39). In the diving events, Mikki Thompson led Harvard to victory on the 1-meter board, earning 310.80 points.

Harvard Men’s Highlights

  • Dean Farris and Umitcan Gures each took first place in one event in addition to swimming legs on the winning 400 medley relay. Farris won the 200 free in 1:36.99, while Gures was the top performer in the 100 fly (season-best 48.34).
  • The Crimson swept both diving events. Hal Watts was the champion on the 1-meter board after earning 301.13 points. Alec DeCaprio, meanwhile, finished in first with 315.08 points in 3-meter diving. Watts surpassed the NCAA Zone A Diving Standard of 300 points.
  • Jacob Johnson was superb in the 200 fly, winning that competition with a time of 1:48.90. It represented his second win in the event this season.
  • The Crimson improved to 69-5 all-time vs. Columbia and have won 13 straight meets against the Lions.
