While the Big Ten and ACC conferences are squaring off against each other, two of the elite Pac-12 teams will face one of the elite Big 12 teams for dual meets.

On Friday, the No. 1 Stanford women will host No. 4 Texas for one of the biggest inter-conference showdowns of the season.

Then on Saturday, Texas will face No. 2 Cal.

It will be an exciting trip for the Longhorns. Claire Adams could go head-to-head with Stanford freshman Taylor Ruck, then have to face Cal’s Amy Bilquist in the backstroke the next day.

In the butterfly, Texas senior Remedy Rule could face Stanford’s Ella Eastin, then Cal’s Katie McLaughlin.

Who knows? The possible head-to-head showdowns are endless with many exciting options for each event.

The Cardinal are coming off of a record-setting performance in their last dual meet at Washington State.

Freshman Zoe Bartel won the 100-yard breaststroke with a facility record time of 1:02.46. That broke a seven-year-old record set by USC’s Kasey Carlson in 2011.

Another freshman, Taylor Ruck, captured Stanford’s second pool record of the day. Ruck raced to a finish of 23.04 in the 50 freestyle, which broke the old mark set by Bilquist in 2015.

Junior Erin Voss set the pool standard in the 200 backstroke at 1:56.58. That beat out a swim by Cal’s Elizabeth Pelton in 2015 by about a half second.

Cal is also coming off of a record-setting performance at Washington State.

On Saturday, the Golden Bears started things off with a pool mark in the 200-yard medley relay as the foursome of Sophie Krivokapic-Zhou, Ema Rajic, Abbey Weitzeil and Alicia Wilson touched in 1:42.51 to lower the record by 0.01 seconds. Weitzeil also put her name in the record book individually with her time of 49.42 in the 100 free later in the meet.

On Friday, USC hosts Fresno State and Pacific, while Washington State hosts Wyoming.

On Saturday, UCLA will host UC-San Diego and UC-Santa Barbara. On Friday-Sunday, USC will host a diving invitational that UCLA is scheduled to participate in.
