NEW COMMIT: Louisiana State University has recently received a new verbal commitment for the fall of 2019 from Olivia Taylor. The Ocala, Fla. native will join the Tigers as a member of the class of 2023.

Taylor competes for YMCA of Central Florida and is a four-time Junior National qualifier. Most recently, she competed at the Florida Summer Solstice Invitational where she was an eight-time finalist. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American finished third in the 100 fly (54.95) and sixth in the 100 free (50.22) at YMCA Nationals in April and won five individual events at the 2017 Florida YMCA SCY Championships.

She told Swimming World:

“I chose LSU because everything about the school was absolutely perfect to me. The coaching staff, the resources, and the campus I immediately fell in love with as soon as I set foot on their deck. I am beyond excited to spend the next four years of my life as a part of their family. Geaux Tigers!”

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 23.14
  • 100 free – 50.18
  • 200 free – 1:49.74
  • 100 breast – 1:03.66
  • 100 fly – 54.95
  • 200 fly – 2:01.02

Taylor will be extremely valuable to the Tigers both individually and on relays when she arrives in Baton Rouge for the 2019-20 season. In the sprint events, she’ll have two years of overlap with Grace Horton following the graduation of top sprinters Haylee Knight and Summer Spradley.
