Northern Michigan Receives Commitment from Jasper Bunker of Pleasant Prairie Patriots

NEW COMMIT: Northern Michigan University has added a new addition to their impressive recruiting class for the fall of 2021 from versatile Jasper Bunker of Pleasant Prairie, Wis.

She will suit up for the Wildcats as a member of the class of 2025 along with Becca Harned, Becca BurrowsCecilia HagewoodHeidi BillingsEmma Clifford,  Zoe DeKievitElla Houwers, and Faith Sill.

She told Swimming World:

“I’m so pumped to announce that I’ll be swimming and studying at Northern Michigan University! Big thanks to my teammates, friends, family, & coaches for always supporting me and cheering me on throughout my swimming career! I can’t wait to be a Wildcat!”

Bunker, who does her club swimming with Pleasant Prairie Patriots, finaled in two events at the Wisconsin 13&O State Championships in March after winning three events at the MMSC Invitational in January. In Summer 2019, she recorded two best times at the Wisconsin 13&O LCM Championships.

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 23.96
  • 50 back – 27.80
  • 100 back – 57.68
  • 200 back – 2:09.42
  • 50 breast – 31.92
  • 100 breast – 1:07.31
  • 200 breas – 2:27.55
  • 50 fly – 27.44
  • 100 fly – 58.67

Also competing for Kenosha Tremper High School, Bunker placed sixth in the 50 free at the Wisconsin DI State Championships as a junior. She is also a four-time WIAA DI Sectional Championship finalist, winning the 100 back in 2019 and most recently finishing second in the 100 fly and third in the 50 free.

Under head coach Heidi Voigt, the Wildcats won their seventh GLIAC Championship title in school history and their first since 2002.
