Missouri Takes Down Vanderbilt (Women) and McKendree at Home
Missouri welcomed the women of SEC rival Vanderbilt plus Division II McKendree for the Tigers’ first home meet of the season. Missouri was dominant in this one, with the women beating Vanderbilt 236-57 and McKendree 244-40, claiming the win in every event in the process, while the men beat McKendree 213.5-85.5.
Missouri’s team of Libby Bakker, Zara Zallen, Kylee Sullivan and Katie Kuehn took the victory in the 200 medley relay in 1:37.82. Zallen was back shortly thereafter to claim the top spot in the 200 freestyle (1:47.60), and she later dominated the 100 free (49.22). Bakker came in first in the 100 backstroke (54.21) and 200 backstroke (1:58.12)
Peyton Drexler topped the 1000 free (9:52.65), and Lina Bank won the 100 breaststroke (1:00.10) and 200 breaststroke (2:14.10). Maeve DeYoung used a strong second half to top the 200 butterfly (1;59.40) while Francesca Smith was the quickest in the 50 free (22.72). Zoe Schneider surpassed the field by more than 10 seconds in the 500 free (4:49.62), and Paige Striley finished first in the 100 fly (53.21).
Missouri’s Mia Henninger won 1-meter diving (289.58) while Gaby Carmona took the top spot in 3-meter (316.50). Schneider took her second win in the 400 IM (4:15.70) before the team of Bank, Zallen, Smith and Kuehn clocked 3:20.14 for the win in the 400 free relay.
The Missouri men opened with a win from Quinlan Gould, Logan Ottke, Luke Nebrich and Francois Malherbe in the 200 medley relay (1:25.20). Malherbe won the first individual victory for the Mizzou men in the 200 free (1:38.14) before Gould dominated the 100 back (46.47) and Brady Johnson won a tight race in the 100 breast (53.73). Jan Zubik got the better of the field in the 200 fly (1:41.99) while Nebrich won the 50 free by more than a second (19.03).
Nebrich returned to put up a time of 42.59 in the 100 free, and then Gould topped the 200 back (1:44.16). Matthew Mortenson was first in the 200 breast (1:57.87) and 400 IM (3:50.28), and in diving, Collier Dyer was first in 1-meter (369.83) and 3-meter (348.38). Malherbe, Nebrich, Ethan Vance and Johnson dominated the 400 free relay with a time of 2:53.29.
McKendree’s Jakub Rynkiewicz won his team’s first winner, taking first in the 1000 free (9:13.39) and 500 free (4:28.69). Teammate Vova Gavrysh came in first in the 100 fly (46.93).
