Minnesota Earns Verbal from Badger Aquatic Club’s Nathan Kim for 2020-21 Season

NEW COMMIT: Middleton, Wisc. native and current high school junior Nathan Kim has verbally committed to the University of Minnesota as a member of the class of 2024.

Kim does his club swimming with Badger Aquatic Club and most recently competed at NCSAs where he finished 15th in the 100 fly with a pair of lifetime bests. Over the past two seasons, he is an 11-time Wisconsin SCY State Championship finalist and won the 200m fly and 200m IM this past summer at the Wisconsin LCM Championships.

Also competing for Middleton High School, Kim is a five-time Wisconsin DI State Championships finalist. He was the 200 IM runner-up and finished seventh in the 100 fly as a junior after eighth and 16th, respectively, in those events during his sophomore season.

He told Swimming World:

His best times include:

50 fly – 23.18
100 fly – 50.16
200 fly – 1:49.42
200 IM – 1:55.20

When he arrives on campus in the fall of 2020, Kim will add valuable depth to the Gophers’ fly and IM training groups. Kim has made significant improvements over the past two seasons with well over a year to go before arriving in Minnesota: he has dropped four seconds in the 100 fly, seven seconds in the 200 fly and eight seconds in the 200 IM.
