Miami Ohio RedHawks Add Two More Verbals for Class of 2025 from Madeline Padavic, McKenzie Reid

NEW COMMITS: Miami University of Ohio has already formed an impressive recruiting cohort for the Class of 2025, and they have recently received two more valuable additions: Madeline Padavic of Downers Grove, Ill. and McKenzie Reid of Vandalia, Ohio.

Both talented swimmers will join Jordyn HomokiErin Szczupakiewicz, Natalie StumpKatherine AntonowichTaylor ConnorsLauren MurrayEmily Rinker, and Maggie Stock in Oxford at the start of the 2021-22 season.

She told Swimming World:

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic careers at Miami University! I’m beyond grateful for all of my friends, family, and coaches who have helped and supported me throughout this journey! Also, a huge thank you to the Miami coaches who made this process so comfortable and so easy! I can’t wait to be a part of the RedHawk family next fall! #LoveAndHonor”

Padavic trains year-round with Hornet Swim Club and most recently recorded four new lifetime bests at Illinois Seniors in March where she finished fourth in the 100 fly. Last summer, she finished 16th in the 50m free at Illinois LCM Seniors en route to notching four new best times.

Her best times include:

  • 50 fly – 25.95
  • 100 fly – 55.95
  • 50 free – 23.69
  • 100 free – 52.39
  • 200 free – 1:53.80
  • 200 IM – 2:08.92

Also competing for Downers Grove South, Padavic placed 11th in the 100 fly as a junior at the Illinois State Championships. She won that event at the IHSA Lyons Sectional Championships in 2020 and took fifth in that event at the IHSA Downers Grove Sectional meet in 2019.

McKENZIE REID

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Miami University!! Thank you to my family, friends, and coaches who have supported me throughout this journey. I can’t wait to be a part of the Miami Swim & Dive family! Love and Honor❤️?”

Reid does her club swimming with Kettering South Community YMCA and raced three events at YMCA Nationals in April 2019 where she achieved best times in all of her events. She also raced at YMCA LCM Nationals last summer, again registering three new best times.

Her best times include:

  • 50 fly – 26.25
  • 100 fly – 55.86
  • 50 back – 26.78
  • 100 back – 58.16
  • 50 free – 24.55

Currently a senior at Chaminade Julienne, Reid placed third in the 100 fly and seventh in the 100 back at the Ohio State DII Championships during her junior campaign. She won the 100 fly and was the runner-up in the 100 back at the Ohio SW District Meet in 2020 as well.
