Michigan freshman Maggie MacNeil moved up the all-time rankings again in the 100 fly with a 49.97 on Friday night at the Georgia Invitational. MacNeil moved up from sixth to fourth as she was a 50.09 at the ACC-B1G Challenge a couple weeks ago.

MacNeil has been on fire this fall with her lightning quick 100 butterflys this semester. She is the fourth swimmer to ever break 50 seconds in the event as she moved past Natalie Coughlin on the all-time list. MacNeil is from Ontario and represents Canada internationally. She won the Junior Pan Pac gold medal this summer in the 100 fly with a 58.38.

MacNeil won the race in Athens, Georgia, handily over Bulldog junior Veronica Burchill (51.35) and Cal senior Katie McLaughlin (52.01).

MacNeil is not a shoe-in to win the 100 fly this year at NCAA’s as she will have to face off with reigning NCAA Champion Louise Hansson of USC, who is second all-time. Hansson was a 50.09 earlier this morning at the Texas Invite. Tennessee junior Erika Brown also posted a 50.46 this morning at the Tennessee Invitational, as all three are in position to challenge Kelsi Dahlia’s 49.43 US Open Record from the 2016 NCAA’s.

All-Time Rankings:

  1. Kelsi Dahlia, 49.43 (2016)
  2. Louise Hansson, 49.80 (2018)
  3. Erika Brown, 49.85 (2018)
